Founded in 1997, Siam Mandalay Co., LTD. is a designer, manufacturer, and distributor of wooden handicrafts, puzzles, games, and home décor accessories. 

Operating in both the retail and wholesale spaces, SiamMandalay pieces are available internationally throughout TJX Group: TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Marshalls, Winners, HomeSense and other independent boutiques. 

They also operate a diverse online retail presence with various touch-points and stores across the web, including their website (www.siammandalay.com) and Amazon Marketplaces in the US, UK, throughout Europe, Japan, and Canada.

Essential to maintaining their position as a premium brand and meeting all their backend technical requirements means SiamMandalay needed a hosting solution that powered a great user experience with fast response times, maximum up-time and enabled all their back-end applications to work seamlessly.

Business Demands

SiamMandalay was looking to transition their website from a restrictive platform to a more flexible CMS that would enable them to expand their business operations and meet the growing expectations of their customer base. They also required a hosting solution that would enable them to test, as their current CMS platform had no testing environment.

The SiamMandalay website has a lot of traffic, particularly during the Christmas period, we needed to create a testing environment that we knew would be robust enough to support 100s of hits at a specific time, provide low and predictable pricing, and maintain a slick user experience while enabling the applications for the sales and logistics operations to work seamlessly.

AWS Lightsail met all the requirements for our testing environment allowing the software team to do UAT fast and proceed with the development of a new website along with its relevant applications etc.,

Solutions

Initially, Aware set up the AWS Lightsail testing environment for the new SiamMandalay website, enabling them to test effectively. Performance instantly improved, page load time decreased, application up-time increased and all the limitations of their previous CMS were removed. Developers were no longer restricted by the platform and could test all applications and front-end changes effectively – configuring everything to the needs of the client.
