17 Oct BUILD AND CODE YOUR OWN COMPUTER
Welcome to Tech this Out.
As we approach the weekend, it’s time to kick back and check out the fun side of technology.
Want your children to know how to build and program a computer?
If you answered yes, check out the Kano.
What is Kano?
Kano is a computer you build and code yourself.
What do you get?
- Raspberry Pi (The brain of your Kano),
- Bluetooth keyboard,
- connector cables,
- speaker,
- Wi-Fi dongle
- Kano’s own user-friendly, gamified Linux OS focused on hacking with code.
- Some kid-friendly instructions on how to connect the hardware together.
Once you unpack and connect it, you can modify the way things behave by experimenting with Kano Blocks. These blocks look like lego pieces to the user, but in reality translate to real Python code based on what you do with them. If you are bored with games, change them, or have some fun experimenting with music and video players. The kit uses a step by step approach for both hardware and software to help kids break down the technology and have some fun with it.
Coding and building a computer now look like child’s play….
